boFNjackson (1232), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2009 Bottle... Poured a hazy amberish/red with a thick, beige head. Aroma of malts, spiced yeast and a tiny bit of hops. Well carbonated and little on the dry side. Robust and spiced, cracked pepper, fruity malts and welcoming metallic quality to the finish. Floral and sweet and a bit souring, a very complex brew for a mere 6.5%. As the beer warmed to room temperature, the metallic character faded and the spices shined through, particularly a cinnamon like spice. bookman10 (83), Osseo, Minnesota, USA Nov 1, 2009 Pours a nice amber with thin to no head. Pleasant flavor, with some sweet malt and spice. Kind of a bitter bite to the finish. Fairly high carbonation. Not a bad beer, but nothing too special either. crajun (89), , Texas, USA Oct 29, 2009 bottle at flying saucer in addison
good; but not as good as others in this style - too sweet in beg. and not as crisp in end..high carbonation l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA Oct 27, 2009 Pours amber with a fizzy off-white head. Soft aroma of bread, belgian yeast and a bit of apple. Flavor is more of the same with a strong spicy presence. Huge carbonation. Enjoyable but not exciting. RealPoser (22), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2009 Pours a faint amber with reddish hue, slight haze. A thick white head that recedes almost immediately. Nose is sweet, hints of caramel and citrus...with slight pepper spice. Flavor is of orange peel, banana and bread. Hints of bubble gum and cracked pepper. Light body with moderate carbonation, that adds a little tooth. Finish is sharp but not lingering. Solid. fata2683 (833), Panama City, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2009 bottle, pours hazy blood orange with a medium off white head. Strong apple and orange aroma. Extremely sweet malt with a touch of sour yeast esters and little else. Easy to forget. possumjc (99), Charleston - Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet with a hint of spice. The flavor mirrors the aroma. Upfront it is sweet and fruity with a spicy finish. Pretty carbonated. Overall not bad at all. nickd717 (1263), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 13, 2009 Bottle from Whole Foods Los Altos. Meh, this didn’t really do it for me. Not bad, but pretty standard. Pours a hazy orangish-golden color with a small but well-retained white head. Aroma is pale malt, Belgian yeast, spices, and light fruits. Flavor is more of the same, slightly yeasty and fruity with apple and apricot. Finish is somewhat dry, body is medium, and carbonation is fairly high. Overall this is a good beer, but nothing you haven’t seen before.
