Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Pours a nice amber with thin to no head. Pleasant flavor, with some sweet malt and spice. Kind of a bitter bite to the finish. Fairly high carbonation. Not a bad beer, but nothing too special either.

Location: 12 oz bottle Dave bought at You Save, 12/5/09

Aroma: Aroma of light fruit, yeast, and sweet malts
Appearance: Mostly clear orange color with s light white head
Flavor: Some nice sweet, tart, and bitterness mixed together
Palate: Somewhat soft carbonation, light-medium body, somewhat oily
Overall Impression: I thought this beer was pretty solid. A nice enjoyable brew, not exceptional, but highly drinkable and nice. I like this stuff. Another one from Ommegang that I’ve had plenty of times but never rated previously. A good brew.

Location: From my buddy Dave, who got the beer at Usave in Frostburg, MD

Aroma: Very light aroma.
Appearance: Nice clear, golden clear appearance.
Flavor: Mildly hoppy taste, a little bit of a roasty flavor.
Palate: Smooth beer.
Overall Impression: A nice drinking beer, slightly hoppier than the Hennepin I just tasted.

Bottle from Firemoose15. Pours cloudy dark orange. Nose is orange peel, bready malt and a little spicy honey. Quite nice. Flavor is heavy on the orange , some caramel and yeastiness in the background, but the sugary orange (like those orange wedge candies) overwhelmed for me. Thanks for sending to me, Mel, I’ve not seen this one locally.

Pours hazy orange with a nice head that sticks around. Aroma is orange peel with some coriander. Full bodied and a little bitter with just the right Belgian quality as well as orange and some yeastyness. finishes warm and spicy. Great Beer!

This was one of my "gateway" beers which showed me that beer doesn’t have to be lacking in that odd attribute called flavor :) I picked it up purely because it looked interesting, and it didn’t disappoint. This is a very interesting beer, and a great one to recommend to craft newbies who are not used to actually tasting anything other than bland carbonation in their fizzy yellow water (but without blowing their taste buds away in one fell swoop like you would if you fed them a Rochefort 10 or Bernardus 12). Poured into a trappist goblet and it formed a nice head which remained for a few minutes. Outstanding color - a beautiful burgundy with just enough hazy yeast to say, "yeah, I’m a decent beer, you’re gonna enjoy this". Aroma is very pleasing, just enough sweetness and malt to entice a taste. The taste is great for the first moment, a well-balanced combination of malt and fruit, but it doesn’t develop much further and dissipates fairly quickly. This fact, combined with the 6.5% ABV makes this a good choice for a small session beer. Overall this is a really fine beer that I have enjoyed many times with food or without. I always try to have some on-hand because it’s just perfect as a go-to brew no matter what my mood.

12oz bottle. Pours nice hazy burnt orange with thick white head. Aroma is orange, lemon, yeast, banana, spices, and bready malt. Flavor is banana, clove, citurs, bready malts, caramel and yeast. Fine carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Smooth and refreshing on palate. While not overly complex it is flavorful and easy to drink. Nice begain ale.

Fruity, yeasty aroma with some hints of spice...kind of a zesty GoP. Flavor has hints of yeast and fruity esters. Mouthfeel is carbonated and light.

In bottle at Tony’s Place Warminster. Pours a beautiful Amber color. Head is a light amber, that dissipates slowly. Not as sour as some other Belgians in this style. A very nice beer.
