Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Pours amber with a fizzy off-white head. Soft aroma of bread, belgian yeast and a bit of apple. Flavor is more of the same with a strong spicy presence. Huge carbonation. Enjoyable but not exciting.

12 oz bottle from TC Craft. Straw color, foamy white head. Fruity yeasty aroma. Flavor is also yeasty and fruity with a bit of spice notes. Sweet thick palate.

Pours a slightly cloudy gold, with white head. Fruit, light bready malt, light spice and some pepper. Nice beer, could drink this often, but not one of the best.

Aroma is of fruit (apples or pears maybe?) Appearance is a medium amber with a hint of red and some thin lacing. Taste is spice, some wheat and light floral hints. Palate is dry with a good deal or carbonation.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is fruity (apples), yeast, bubblegum, spice notes, really fruity and yeasty with some floral hops coing through as well. Appearance is a semi-cloady amber/golden with a very thick white head that lingers arounf forever. Taste is really nice belgian characteristics, fruits, yeast, slow hop backing then changes in the aftertaste to a more cereal type taste. Overall, Pretty darn good stuff in my honest opinion. Cheers!

A: I poured into a Maudite Tulip and the head was very lively. It died down to a nice ring though. There was lacing left behind and the color is a beautiful hue of orange / red. S: Lots of spice in the nose here. Clove, Nutmeg and All Spice are all noted. There is a very nice malty sweet aroma as well. This is a great smelling brew. T: Love the taste of this brew. It has a very complex character about it. It starts of kind of sweet and spicy. Kind of reminds me of my grandmother’s baked apples. It has fruitiness about it with the power of those spices coming thru.... defiantly cinnamon and nutmeg. There is also a mildly hoppy quality about this one. I love when Belgian Beers add hops and they did a great job introducing them here, they are way in the background but they are here. M: Medium bodied yet light. Goes down rather smoothly.

Pours a hazy amber with a big white head that quickly fades... spicy fruity aroma with a definite kick of belgian yeast... flavor is spicy and fruity as well with what i can only assume is a pepperyness, interesting... different, good, medium bodied, dry in the finish, quite worth trying...

Location: 12 oz bottle Dave bought at You Save, 12/5/09

Aroma: Aroma of light fruit, yeast, and sweet malts
Appearance: Mostly clear orange color with s light white head
Flavor: Some nice sweet, tart, and bitterness mixed together
Palate: Somewhat soft carbonation, light-medium body, somewhat oily
Overall Impression: I thought this beer was pretty solid. A nice enjoyable brew, not exceptional, but highly drinkable and nice. I like this stuff. Another one from Ommegang that I’ve had plenty of times but never rated previously. A good brew.
