Dark red pour, nice fluffy head. Light fruity vinaigrette notes on the nose. Some sweet fruit up front mixed with a good tartness on the mid palate. I get tons of interesting fruity notes including cherries and raspberries, green apples. Lots of tart old school candy flavors. Some funk in the finish mixes with the sour and creates a quenching pleasant libation. Michael Irvin loves cocaine!

On tap at the Toronado SD. Pours a beatiful red to amber hue with a small tan head. Aroma is dart with dark fruits, plum and apple. Taste is dark fruits, velvet, caramel, sour, wood, with some sweetness, leather, barnyard and vinegar. Very dry mouthfeel, light bubbles.

Draft at Vine and Barley. Wow. Thats really all I can say. I was seriously not expecting this. Pours a incredibly gorgeous crystal clear ruby with a foamy brown head. Nose is tart sour wood with some spice. Flavor is very complex, fairly sour up front but not overly so with vanilla and wood. Very light vinegar. This is an amazingly good beer considering its fairly accessible for a sour. This I think is actually better than Rodenbach Grand Cru. I can’t believe Ommegang put out something this good (even if it was contract brewed). Absolutely fantastic.

Tap @ OTH. Pours dark brown, off white head. Aroma and taste, plenty of wood flavors, giving the beer some unique tartness that makes this beer a Rodenbach hybrid, that is amazingly tasty. Vinegary mouthfeel, sour and tart, tingly wood on the palate almost peppery, cherries. At only 5.5%, this one packs a nice punch. Not a huge fan of sours, but this one is a nice step toward more appreciation for the latter. This one beats some of the overly sours from the West coast by a long shot.

Tap @ Cole’s. Ruby body, white head. Nose is balsamic, a bunch of wood, cherry-like malt. Flavor is lemony balsamic, rich meaty caramel malts, berries. Wood & nice acidity compliment the rich malt, especially in the finish.

Draught. At Coles, Buffalo NY. Deep refractive chestnut, clear, with a creamy off-white head. Heavy aroma, strong sour cherry, thickly sweet caramel malt, soft sweet spicy yeast, and light oak. Tastes of stewed sour cherries, green oak resin, lemon, and yeast - worst very well indeed, reminds me a lot of Rodenbach Grand Cru. Syrupy mouthfeel, obviously quite sour on the palate, a nice heterodyning of sweet and sour through the fairly long finish. If you love a good sour, this will go down very easily; it’s sour, but certainly not over the top - well done indeed.

Draft at Downtown Johnny Browns. Pours a rich deep copper brown with a lacing head. Nose has a light Brett funk. Flavors of sour bread, Brett, very bready, some oak hints. Good carbonation.
