On tap at Max’s Belgian Fest: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin ring of cream-colored head. Aroma of tart cherries and lightly sweet caramel with good oaky character. Body starts with good thickness and effervescent carbonation along with complex tart fruity flavors and good sweet malty balance before a crisp puckering finish. Very true to style and enjoyable.

Nose of cherries, malt, tart fruit, plums. Medium to dry mouthfeel, amber to mahogany in color. Strong cherry, citrus, and light malt, toffee and toast

Tart cherry, oak, floral, light but refreshing bright fruit notes, balanced by a lingering malt sweetness. Extremely tasty and a nice surprise on my way through Brooklyn.

Tap at Max’s. Dark brown-red pour with a thin white head. Sour vinegar aroma with some metallic notes. Touch of sweetness in the flavor with lots of sourness. A bit of cherry. Very nice.

Tap at Stumbling Monk. Pours a dark reddish brown with thick off white head. Nose is super tart with hints of balsamic, oak, and cherries. Flavor mimics the nose and just wonderfully full of tart cherry flavor. This is a party in my mouth...more please!

On tap @ Max’s BBF. Pours a dark mahogany color with a tiny head. Funky, sour aroma, some woody cherries. HUGE, sour mouthfeel, dominates the dark fruits. Dry finish, awesome.

Deep red color with minimal head. aroma of vinegar, crystal malt raspberries, not as harsh as other belgian reds I’ve tried, but i cant come to appreciation. fragrant in the mouth, more flowery, the sourness dominates the flavor, with some cherry and distant bitter chocolate.

Interesting beer. Deep red color with off-white head. Sweet, sour, funky, fruity aroma. Extremely tart, almost too much so. Cherries and oak. Medium palate for a sour ale. Not a bad offering from the ’gang.
