kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 28, 2008 On tap, BCTC 2008. Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a minimal beige head that faded fairly quickly. The nose is a bit thin with roasty malt, coffee, some chocolate, but not a whole lot of oat character. The flavor is pretty thin and watery with dry roasted malt, coffee, and some yeast that dulls everything a bit. Short, watery finish. Mouthfeel is thin with light fizzy carbonation . Pretty disappointing all in all. Miver (547), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 12, 2008 Draft at BCTC ’08. Poured deep brownish amber in color with a tan head. Aroma of oats, coffee, and mocha. Tastes of creamy chocolate, coffee, with a large amount of oats, and mild roast. abcfan (244), New Jersey, USA Aug 12, 2008 Sample at BCTC 2008. Pours black with a nice fluffy tan head. Aroma is full of oats and dry chocolate. Taste is very creamy, but kind of thin and fizzy on the tongue. Pretty good overall. argo0 (6842), Washington DC, USA Aug 11, 2008 (BCTC, draft) Brown-black body topped by medium brown head. Aroma is medium sweet, milk chocolate, oatmeal, light roast, coffee. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, some chocolate, roast. Light-medium body, light acidity. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Aug 10, 2008 Tap @ BCTC. Dark with a light tan head. Aroma and taste are similar and have dark bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Body did not have much to help the taste. Some sweet creamyness but a bit too watery. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 6, 2008 bctc 08. Pours a nice deep dark black with a fizzy moderate head. aroma is very toasty, nutty, tons of roasted and chocolate malts- just a straight up nice stouty smell. Flavor is a bit thin in the middle- more toasted and chocolate malts, light smoothing effects from some oats- creamy flavor but the body and finish seemed a bit overcarbonated thin and fizzy to me. Ok overall- I didnt understand the point of this beer other than the name and relation to the theme of the fest- no real belgian character at all. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 5, 2008 Draft @ BCTC. Pours dark brown with a tean head. Nose of roasted malt, chcoolate coffee, oats. Flavor is very similar. Medium bodied. Pretty good. egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2008 [BCTC 08] Poured a dark brown / red color with a medium sized tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, some coffee, light oats, chocolate, and some vanilla. Taste was astringent, not very creamy, some oats present, with more roasted malts, vanilla beans, vegetal, and cocoa. Thinner mouthfeel.
