Pours a muddy, rather unattractive, reddish brown color with a thick beige head. Aroma is a rich mix of malt, cherries, smoke, and caramel. Palate is thick and heavy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Flavor was dominated by the malt with undertones of cherry. Also, notes of raisin, dates, figs and spices. All in all, a wonderful drinking experience. Highly recommend. BanjoDude (29), Kingsport, Tennessee, USA

Very nice caramel aroma with a hint of cherries in there as well. Very strong, but very satisfying too. It may be a little much for the regular American Light beer drinker, but for people with more robust tastes, this is a knockout. clueo (112), Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a tulip glass. The beer pours a medium brown with some deep red to ruby highights. The head is just about white, and lingers for several minutes. The nose brings a strong not of caramel and a finish of kriekesque cherries at the end. On the palate, the malts come at the palate first, giving hints of Belgian character malts like Special "B" and CaraMunich, along with caramel and just a touch of cherry that becomes more evident as the beer warms. A little bit of alcohol comes through in the mid- to late-palate, but not enough to destroy the flavors mentioned. Overall, a great Quadrupel. gracefullypunk (350), Washington, USA

Aromas of malt, yeast, earth and slight cherries--fairly subtle. Tastes just a little of dark fruits, slightly malted, subtle spices. Can taste the alcohol but there really is no lingering aftertaste. Bottle seems a little off and so will rerate if possible. 502Flavors (631), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Aromais light - belgian candi sugar and yeast, with a very slight hint of cherries. The flavor is very hot and all quad... where is the alleged kriek that the quad was blended with? Medium to light body and over carbonated. Overall: what? DerWeg (780), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Clear ruddy brown with fine medium size tan cap that settles in the Westmalle chalice. Faint sweet aromas and good flavors of cherry, dry plum, apple, raisi,n caramel and some spice. Some wine-like tartness and a touch of hop dryness are interesting. Alcohol is forceful before I chill it down. Moderately full body, some nice stickiness. Aroma is a bit short. Ommegang makes a few fine beers that seem restrained and maybe a little too understated to really stand out. Nothing wrong with ’em though. Polite refined belgians!
