Commercial Description:
Three Philosophers is a remarkable limited edition strong ale brewed by Brewery Ommegang in response to a home brewer’s description of his dream beer. Realbeer.com, the internet’s largest beer website, hosted a contest called “Create a Great Beer.” Brewery Ommegang was chosen by Realbeer.com to brew the Belgian-style ale for the winning essayist. Noel Blake, a home brewer from Portland wrote the winning description for what his “dream beer” would be like.

12 oz bottle. Pours a rich caramel brown color with a big foamy tan head that has great retention and very nice lacing. Aroma is slight cherries and a touch of yeast/bread with a slight note of alcohol at the end. Flavor is a semi sweet, malt with a slight fruit, mainly cherry. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Easy to drink, and almost refreshing...? A "refreshing" quad? I’m on crack.

Pouts a light red color. Very little head. Alcohol nose. Taste is rife with cherries and other fruits. Sweet and malty. I like it.

Murky reddish brown with sediment, non lasting cream top, like fresh cider, opaque. Smells of maple, wood, grapes, cherries and dark chocolate. Tastes of bitter chocolate, CARAMEL APPLES, cinammon with warm alcohol finish. Smooth and slightly hearty.

Poured deep brown and ruby red, almost opaque and a bit hazy. Nice two finger head and great lacing. Big malty aromas, including cherries, tart granny smith apples, licorice and mint. Sweet malt flavors, nothing roasted about it, featuring black cherry, apples, and slight coffee, chocolate and brown sugar. Very smooth on the palate, generously carbonated and a very pleasant dark fruit aftertaste. Alcohol has a wonderfully warming effect on a cold winter night.

Bottle from 3 bottle craft pack. Pours a nice dark amber with a off-white/tan head. Tastes of cherries and licorice with a bitter finish. Best of the three beers.

Bottle. [Trade with hopscotch and the Florida Crew, thanks buddy] Huge thick beige head that really lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Cloudy dark amber color. Aroma was very explosive with notes of fruit and dried fruit. Strong undertones of alcohol, Port Wine, thick malt. Over the palate notes of raisins, prunes nuts was picked up. Almost mild sour cherry notes as well. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and thick alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor the way I like it. Lingering warming vinous dried fruity finish. One more please. Once again thanks for the trade Eric, see you and your lovely wife in Copenhagen in 2010.
