hellbilly (865), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jul 12, 2008 hazy yellow pour with an inch tall foamy white head and some streaky lacing. aroma of wheat, orange peel, yeast and watered down lemon juice. the flavor is lemon-y and tart with some stale grain/wheat, floral and lightly savory yeast. tart spicy finish leaves some acidity in the aftertaste. medium body with a phlegmy thick mouth feel.
needs a re-rate from a guaranteed fresh bottle. i have suspicions about this one...
pegleg666 (1), , North Carolina, USA does not count Sep 5, 2008 This is the single worst craft-brewed beer I’ve ever had. Either cold (they recommend) or warm, it is tasteless and unpleasant to drink.
All this is odd since I love their Abbey ale and Three Philosophers. satan165 (116), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 3, 2008 only slightly cloudy. yeast nicely portrayed in the nose but still moderate. some weizen characteristics of light fruits and yeast. sizzles on the tongue. not the most complex style, this is certainly not the most complex example. easily drinkable and far from irritating. still, a weak showing from ommegang. tarheels86 (32), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 31, 2008 750 mL bottle. Slightly disappointing. I would still go for Hoegaarden over this. Pours with a great white head, cloudy bright yellow with a heavy scent of yeast and cloves/coriander/orange peel. Very refreshing and light but a little too sour and watery. I’m still a sucker for white beers but this was not up to par. rds (90), USA Aug 31, 2008 An opaque golden brew with a short white head, this wheat beer has just the right amount of citrus notes with a the crisp lightness that suits the genre and especially the summer. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA Aug 28, 2008 750ml bottle. Cloudy light straw with a white head. Citrus and spice aromas. Medium body with a big mouthfeel. Slight tanginess. Very refreshing.
