StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Dec 23, 2005 Moderately thick in the glass and midnight brown in color, leaving wonderful waves-washing-in lace that are deep tan. Fruity, roasted aroma. Chocolate cherry cheesecake comes to mind, pursued by marshmallows and Hershey candy bars, so, yes, we’re nearing s’mores mode. Rich velvety sweetness for the flavor portion. Chocolate escalades with childhood plastic squeeze toys. Elements of tiramisu complemented by a milky mocha motif. Well-balanced and easy drinking, finishing with a slight Irish cream coffee bean finish. Enjoyable, and one of this brewery’s best efforts yet. robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Sep 26, 2005 Dark Brown Coloring with Espresso Ring. Chocolate Aroma. Chocolate and Coffee Roasts on the Tongue. Very Dry Aftertaste. I Wouldn’t Characterize This as a ’Sweet’ Stout.. But A Very Nice Stout. CharlesDarwin (1376), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2005 BLBF. Lucious oaky chocolate aroma. Brown fringed deep black pour. More meat in the flavor, like pork fat, rich with more chocolate and scotch notes. Solid. Finishes in chocolate and a hint of cayenne. DavidP (1710), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 28, 2005 Updated: Jun 27, 2006Tap at the pub. Black body, small tan head. The delightfully chocolatey flavor is complimented by lactose, dry roast and a hint of green-hop bitterness. This would add up to an ordinary oatmeal stout but the full and smooth mouthfeel make it a great experience. Chocolate, cream, and coffee beans reside in the aroma. Velvety, long sweet finish with dark chocolate. A damn good oatmeal stout. This style attracts many sub-par examples but this one really stands out. hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2005 On tap at the Onopa Brew Pub. Poured a dark black color with red at the edges with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, coffee and light oat meal. Nice coffee finish.
