sampled at DLD. pours clear amber with white head. nose of caramel, yeasty, and not very hoppy. flavor was just not that bitter, some hop fruitiness, caramel, nuts, just decent. alcohol was very well hidden though.

Sampled at DLD. Pours a clear amber with a tall fluffy beige head. Nose of carmel, yeast, citrus, and pine. Bitter flavors similar to the nose with red fruits and a nice earthiness. If that abv is correct that’s impressive as the alcohol is barely noticable.

on tap-pours an off white head and amber color. Aroma is citrus hops-sweet. Tste is syrupy, alcohol, citrus hops-sweet, malt. Almost a barleywine effect. Occasional. OK carbonation.

12 oz serving at the brewpub. No wonder I almost couldn’t finish this beer, had no idea it was almost 14 %. Amber/copper in color with a small compact off white head. Aroma was alot of citrus, pine, and alot of caramel. Taste is very full bodied, alot of caramel with alot of citrus/pine flavor. Bittering is low to moderate in this beer probably because the insane amount of malt in it. the body is pretty thick and syrupy. Tasted to me like an american barleywine rather than a IIPA, and at that ABV it pretty much is. Well done, especially considering how strong this beer is.

Growler. Poured a clear dark copper color with an orange tint and thin off-white head. The malty aroma had plenty of sweetness and a decenbt piney hop backbone to give balance. The flavor was also pretty sweet and malty. My only real complaint was that the flavor seemed to cut short. Nice hops in the flavor. Light notes of alcohol as well but no way you can tell it is almost 14%. This got put into the 19 bottle BW tasting by mistake but it was so big you couldn’t tell it shouldn’t be there.

Sampled as part of a 19 beer blind barleywine tasting (from a growler): Pours a clear bright copper with a spotty, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and fresh piny hops. Starts fresh and caramely sweet with a good mild citrus hoppy balance and a touch of light fruitiness toward the bittersweet finish. A very nice barleywine.

On tap at brewpub. Obvious hoppy presence, with just enough of an aggressive bite to warrant the Double IPA status. Malty body lends a strong backbone though, fleshing it out. Body is creamy, and it finishes with a light caramel/cough syrup (but in a pleasant way) feeling. Almost 14%? I would have guessed 7 or 8 tops, extremely well hidden. Fantastic.

Pours coppery with a white head. Smells and tastes caramelly with some citrus notes. Taste is way too malty for an IIPA with the hops in the brckground rather than the foreground.
