Poured a deep and lightly hazy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, caramel, citrus, spicy, light alcohol, and had a very light doughiness to it. Tastes were brown sugary sweet, caramel, grapefruit and orange peel. Light alcohol in the finish (although no where near 14%). Light lacing left on the glass. Nicely balanced and a very enjoyable IIPA. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Tste is syrupy, alcohol, citrus hops-sweet, malt. Almost a barleywine effect. Occasional. OK carbonation. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Clear amber, little to no head. Enormous sweaty orange nose unveils no fruitiness beside that dulled orange. It appears woody, but remains citrus dominated. Liquorous thinned out body, rather flat carboantion. That 13% alcohol certainly didnt implicate the best attenuation as this is a sweet bomb, harsh and unbalanced with all that astringent citric hoppiness setting your mouth in fire. In the vein of Founders Devil Dancer, so many would like it, but I don’t, it takes more than alcohol and a coolish GI-Joe warrior name. CaptainCougar (5532), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma of sweet caramel malt and fresh piny hops. Starts fresh and caramely sweet with a good mild citrus hoppy balance and a touch of light fruitiness toward the bittersweet finish. A very nice barleywine. Cletus (5059), Connecticut, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 5, 2006 Pours coppery with a white head. Smells and tastes caramelly with some citrus notes. Taste is way too malty for an IIPA with the hops in the brckground rather than the foreground. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 20, 2007 Growler. Poured a clear dark copper color with an orange tint and thin off-white head. The malty aroma had plenty of sweetness and a decenbt piney hop backbone to give balance. The flavor was also pretty sweet and malty. My only real complaint was that the flavor seemed to cut short. Nice hops in the flavor. Light notes of alcohol as well but no way you can tell it is almost 14%. This got put into the 19 bottle BW tasting by mistake but it was so big you couldn’t tell it shouldn’t be there. Sammy (4062), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Here, it was fresh which is always a plus in beer, a little head, lace, medium plus mouthfeel. Good balance, not too bitter, which I appreciated, and a dominant taste of grapefruit.Incredible 14% batch. One of their better beers, appealing to all the geeks, and understandibly so.
