Commercial Description:
This creamy, impenetrable, full bodied ale gets some of its buried sweetness from the use of lactose (milk sugar). The chocolate and black malts creates its deep color and its balanced roasted coffee flavors.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet and very roasted as well as with notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, whiskey, wood, and coffee, leading to a dry bitter and roasted coffee finish.

Cask@GBBF2007. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some hops and old coffee. Flavour is very much the same with some rubbery hints. Nice coffeeish aftertaste.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Wood, oak, vanilla, choc, coffee, not that good to be honest, bit too oaky. Not to my taste.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at GBBF. Black brown with a thin tan film. Coffee, brown sugar, rather sweet, all the roasty and toasty notes you would expect. Bitter dark chocolate finish. Not bad.

Growler acquired in trade with ppoitras (thanks!). Poured a dark, dark brown color, with red edges, and a smaller sized tan head. Aromas of roast, lactose, chocolate, and a little earthy. Tastes of roast, chocolate, light caramel, and a medium coffee bitter finish. The body was a little on the thin side.
