nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 5, 2009 Scored this 12oz bottle as an extra in a trade. Pours a translucent, copper, red with a thin, ringing white head. Aroma is sweet, nutty, metallic. sweet cookie dough. Flavor is sweet, caramel, nuts, bread dough, cookies, crackers, some fall fruits. Finish is dry. Sessionable for sure. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Aug 17, 2009 Cask@GBBF 2009.
Dark nut brown color, not much head. Nutty and kandy sugar aroma. Light caramelly flavor with some nutty hops. Some wood also in the aftertaste. Quite brown ale like.
williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Aug 3, 2009 Clear and glassy cherry red. Thin and watery appearance. It is attractive, however. No head, no carbonation. The aroma is roasted and nutty amber malt. Mild flowery hop presence. Caramel and toffee. Some pungent toffee in the taste, with more of that caramel malts. A nice heavy and dark flavor. Akin to a brown ale. Feels thick and chewy. Has a dry German-style bite on the way down. It’s a really solid, roasted, toffee-inflected brew. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Jul 30, 2009 Amber with a small white head. Grainy malt aroma with a roasted note. Sweet and malty flavour with a hint of roasted malt. BroSpud (584), , Massachusetts, USA Jun 10, 2009 12oz bottle from an Opa-Opa mix pack. Remembered this one from awhile back. Was not that impressed with any of the particular beers in the mix pack. They were all just OK as I remember. Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA May 15, 2009 Bottle Pours a clear amber with a thin off white head. The head leaves rather quickly. Lacing is alright. Has a light malt aroma with hints of stale water. Has a decent carbonation. The flavor is simple and sweet. There is no complexity to it. Has a light body. A watery texture. The finish is soft at best. Has an aftertaste but nothing rememberable. Its an okay beer but not real special. smcolw (314), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA May 10, 2009 Deep dark copper color and crystal clear. Moderate head with a violent pour, dies quickly. No permanent lace as it slides down the glass.
Malty aroma with a touch of sweet caramel. Slightly metalic. No hop.
Reminiscent of a Scotch Ale--lots of crystal malt flavors, slightly sweet. There may be touch of chocolate or burnt malt in the mix. Light hop does provide a little balance. The aftertaste is very short lived. Great body, if not a little thick. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 9, 2009 bottle, sampled 3/6/07.
Pours a foamy dark amber color, very clear and light in texture. Big two finger head foams up quick and clears just as quick. Aroma disappoints... toasted burnt caramel and a shallow, sharp bitterness. Flavor follows the nose though shows more balance, starting with some light, thin toasted caramel and showing some light citrus hop character. Palate very thin and light with some aggressive (over) carbonation. Could benefit from some more body. Overall a decent pub session ale, but nothing especially impressive.
