Commercial Description:
A blend of German vienna malt and English crystal malts create this malty and slightly fruity beer. Sweet caramel flavors give way to a surprisingly soft and smooth finish.

Bottle purchased at Gordon’s in New London, CT. Pours clear reddish orange, off white head. Aroma is malty and earthy. Flavor is the same with pleasant hoppy bitterness and some vinegary fruit tanginess.

Not very good, expected a lot more with all the hype about Opa-Opa. Very watery and the taste did nothing for me.

Draught: This one pours a darker reddish-amber color. It was fairly clear with a decent off-white head to it. The aroma was mainly caramel malts. There was possibly a hint of fruits and some spicy hops. The taste is decent enough. A pleasant caramel malt body with a hint of bitterness. A decent drinker.

Bottle at the Cigar Bar. Went there ’cuz I heard they had Mephistopheles, but my dreams were shattered. I wonder how the hell they got this beer? Pours half an inch of head that reduces to a couple centimeters. Spotted lacing with a copper color. Nose is crispy and light with toast and grains. Green apple, bread and a hint of green grape in flavor. Very malty with a metallic aftertaste. Heavily carbonated with a light/medium body. Kinda tasteless, but I WAS in a cigar bar. A decent session brew.

On tap. Looks good in the glass. Roasted malt taste, not much else. A little watery. Sorry, I just didn’t find this all that impressive.

Bottle at Zorba’s in Bonita Springs, FL. Poured a small ivory head that mostly diminished, spotty amounts of lacing, transparent, slow-rising carbonation, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, caramel, and lightly fruity. Flavor was malty, caramel, light fruitiness, and light hops in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel and light-medium body. Very quaffable, easy drinking, would be one that if it were available in my area I would keep an adequate supply of as it’s a nice beer to have when I’m in the mood for a nice, easy drinking beer.

Pours with a light brown, four-finger head that goes quickly to a ring and leaving a trace of lace. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Almost clear amber color. Nose is hops/malts. Flavor is caramel balanced with some bitterness, slight hoppy finish. $1.65 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.
