Commercial Description:
Keg only.
A light interpretation of the Continental pilsner style, Oranjeboom has the full body and flavour you would expect of a lager with a heavier alcoholic content. Brewed by Shepherd Neame under licence from Brouwerij de Oranjeboom, Breda in Holland, this Gold Medal-winning 4.1% abv draught lager is perfectly placed to grow sales in the most dynamic sector of the UK lager market.

On tap at the Freemasons Arms, London 07/06/09. Golden with a slight white head. Savoury malt lager with a touch of bitterness in the finish. Forgettable.

Tap @ Beer Exposed, September 2008.
Pours clear golden with a small, frothy, film head. Aroma is sweet malty, some wet dog. Overall, not much aroma. Super-high carbonation, very watery - carbonated water, anyone? Flavour has some weak malts and a touch (only a slight one) of flowery hops at the end.

Not a bad lager, available in can from most supermarkets. A student favourite for me, whilst I was in Glasgow. Cheap in value, tastes reasonably good from a can.

[634-20070919] Tap @ Ye Olde Pump House (Hastings, ES). Grainy aroma has hints of skunk and rotting haylofts. Clear, very pale yellow body with a small medium-lasting creamy white head. Flavour continues skunky yeast and rotting straw. Light-medium body. This ’quirkily continental’ brew is rather unpleasant.

Draught. At The Bloomsbury Tavern, Shaftesbury Road, London. Oh WHY do I order stuff lke this? Very pale gold, clear, with a small fast-diminishing fizzy white head. Dry, funky (not in any good way) stale aroma, sort of sweet. Dry, stale wheat aroma, less funk than the nose, just some harsh dead bitterness. Somewhat harsh on the palate, sharply carbonated, stale harsh aftertaste. Not very good; cheap, in fact.

Keg at the Kings Head, Hythe, Kent. Pale straw colour with a thin white head, and heavy carbonation; malty aroma; slightly sour and bitter taste (reminds me of Grolsch); with an unusually salty finish.

Heavily carbonated, light bodied better than average tap Lager. Slightly more hops that normal but a UK larger of no great style.
