Commercial Description:
Keg only.
A light interpretation of the Continental pilsner style, Oranjeboom has the full body and flavour you would expect of a lager with a heavier alcoholic content. Brewed by Shepherd Neame under licence from Brouwerij de Oranjeboom, Breda in Holland, this Gold Medal-winning 4.1% abv draught lager is perfectly placed to grow sales in the most dynamic sector of the UK lager market.

Pretty decent. Fizzy and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. Nothing much more to say about it really other than it’s Shepherd Neame brewed so merits some respect. It doesn’t taste of orange though despite the name!

Keg at The Olde Reinedeer, Banbury. Golden lager with forced white head. Typical biscuity malty pale lager produced in Britain, thin on the pallate apart from masses of gas, no follow through flavours or hops. Won’t try again.

One of those beers i pass all the time and am always like surely theres somethign better than another pale lager to rate. Anyway aroma, mmm a bit sweet with some maltyness going on, good start, as this warms grassy hops kick in too. Taste is also reasonably sweet with a dry finish, not to dry though, remarcably exceptable lager we have here that seems to be everywhere. Plesent suprise.

Had this in a pub, a bit intoxicated when I tried it for the first time, but it will be rated to the best of my knowledge, I have nothing bad to say about it, tasted fine at the time

Draught Keg - Mabels Tavern Mabeldon Place nr Kings Cross (RB London Xmas Crawl 2004). A golden coloured lager with a grassy aroma with washing up liquid notes. The taste is sweet and sickly. Not particularly nice although not a typically English attempt at a lager.

Dec, 2004.Keg. Mabel’s Tavern, Kings Cross - a Shep’s pub. Crisp, hoppy aroma. Crisp, passion fruit burst in the middle; slight chemical finish. I was surprised at how pleasant this tasted. London Xmas Crawl. [2.5]
Oct, 2005. Keg, White Hart, Cuxton - a Shep’s pub. Side by side with Hurliman this came off very badly. There was a lack of distinct flavour. The malt was murky and the hops were a vague nonsense. [1.9]

Keg Mabel’s Tavern, Near Kings Cross, London
This is the UK draught version as brewed at Shepherd Neame. Very pale, fizzy, white head. Typical lager aroma - grassy. Flavour is grass, hay, some malt and grain. Not very good, bland - but not really unpleasent.
Sampled on the Ratebeer London Meetup & Pub Crawl, December 2004. With Silktork, Chris_o & Maeib.

This was the UK draught version, brewed under license by Shepherd Neame (at 4.1%). A boring lager, without much going for it. On tap (keg) at the Three Tuns, Faversham.
