harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jan 9, 2006 A very big style of a porter. This has some really nice chocolate and coffee notes. It was quite cold when I was served, and the aroma was almost nihil but I think it would be quite aromatic as it warmed up. Very dark black, thick and almost oily, chocolate cake mouthfeel and aftertaste. Almost desert like, very rich and roasted. QuoVadis (6), Lebanon, Oregon, USA does not count Oct 26, 2005 a Robust Porter. very toasted but not burnt tasting and medium hoppiness. Not very aromatic but I don’t think a Robust Porter is supposed to be. I think its an average Porter.
I’m having it out of a keg at home at 47°F. It has a thick, Lt Br head that lasts and leaves lacing as thick as the head. Black opaque body. Full-City-Roast type Coffee flavor. I would fill my keg with this again but not for a while. Reid (981), Salem, Oregon, USA Apr 9, 2005 sampled from a pint at the brewpub.
Dark brown beer with a small off white head, that dissapears fast.
The aroma is quite pleasant, chocolaty malts ,slightly roasty.
Quite a good tasting porter, the "roastyness" is more apparent in the taste than in the aroma, quite malty.
Nice and smooth on the palate.
Overall very drinkable , a nice porter.
