acrdz (4131), Pennsylvania, USA Dec 30, 2005 Draft sample at the brewery. The nose is instant blackberry, in an extract/artificial way. The porter characteristic is more evident in this one than in the black wito, and the bourbon barrel brett-like qualities are not as easily noticed. It’s more of a semi-sweet, mildly bland fruit flavored porter with an unneccesary sour note in there as well. Interesting if nothing else. This beer was on tap at the Sasquatch brew festival in Eugene,OR. This beer was very hard for me to judge. Im sure many people would really rave about this beer, but a fruit porter just didn’t do it for me. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was very intense and amazing, chocolate and blackberry aroma, almost wine-like, really reminded me of the Sam Adams Triple Bock i had a while back. This brew was very carbonated and with the blackberry taste almost reminded me of a berry soda, hence my dislike. Very prominant fruit flavors, if you really like fruit beers give this a try, if you can find it.
