Bottle - Thanks BuckeyeBoy! - Pours slightly thicker and dk browm with a fluffy tan head...aroma is bourbon and wood predominantly, some sticky malt in there as well, dark fruit...flavour is pretty nicely balanced, sweet and warming, roasty grains, oak phenols, light vanilla and bourbon...good mouthfeel, it got a bit acidic for me on the finish, but that might have been the alcohol, overall very tasty!

No.2 bottle. Pretty prominent bourbon in the aroma, doesn’t totally over power the porter aroma, though. The flavor gets pretty oakey. Nice beer, but I feel as though they could dial down the oak a wee bit and come out a bit better balanced.

From a big wax top bottle this not inexpensive ($11.49) bottle (No5) purchased from the Market of Choice in Eugene, Oregon poured a very dark black color with a very fat and foamy dark tan head and very thick and sticky lacing rings that coated my Chimay glass like glue. The nose is a blast of bourbon, more so than many Bourbon Barrel aged brews that makes it seem to contain more alcohol than it does. Once you get past the bourbon odor, you can detect aromas of roasted malts with ripe figs and raisins, and some some vanilla. The mouthfeel is very rich and creamy but smoothes out in the mouth. The flavor is more balanced than the nose, and is roasted malts and bourbon, and again seems more alcoholic that it is. Overall a remarkable good porter and worth every penny I paid.

Bottle. Deep brown, approaching opaque black, body with a tan head, mostly diminishing. Strong bourbon aroma and taste that mutes much of what else is in this beer — hints of roasted malts, sweet caramel, vanilla and oak. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The taste of bourbon and alcohol dominate, but the notes of caramel and roast leave a slight earthy taste in the finish. The velvety/oily texture turns watery in the finish. Medium body with very light carbonation. Nice beer to sip on, but like so many bourbon-barrel beers, it’s more about the bourbon than the beer.

Aroma: Big Bourbon aroma with a good malt backing.
Appearance: Black in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Big Bourbon flavor this was sweet and full of life. Big malt flavors that stood up to the barrel aging.
Palate: Dry Barrel Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: Big beer this was awesome. Loved the bourbon it held up well for the past 3-4 years.

No. 1, Thanks Brewdad! Smoky bourbon and a kind of a dark rum thing going on. Simple dark brown. Little sour and metallic, chewy bourbon character, sticky finish.

[ Courtesy of Maria ]. Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, milk chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon, light alcoholic. Flavor is light heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20090316]

Bottle... Poured deep brown with a khaki head. Aroma of vanilla and grains, not so much of dominant bourbon on the nose. A little alcohol up front with smooth, roasted malts in the middle. The bourbon lent to a sweet, creamy palate and dark chocolates in the finish.
