jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA May 25, 2008 Bottle: Medium depth brown with a modest tan head. Aroma is up front with bourbon and backed by roasty malt and chocolate. Flavor is sweet with bourbon, chocolate, roast, and little hints of vanilla. Very smooth and well balanced. Just a bit thin on the palate. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA May 25, 2008 Pours with a dark brown body topped by a medium thick, tan head wtih some lacing. It’s slightly sweet with lots of vanilla and bourbon notes, as well as a touch of malt. Medium to bull bodied, smooth and a touch warming. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA May 25, 2008 Huge bourbon aroma and even more bourbon flavor. I thik this one was overdone somewhere along the line. Somebody goofed this one up. Beer flavors are hidden and dominated by bourbon flavor. Don’t know what else to say about such a one dimensional beer. Sort of thin too; needs more body. Disappointing. Oh yeah, this sucker wasn’t cheap either. Somewhere around $12 bucks if memory serves. Rip off. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thin brown head. Overwhelming bourbon aroma with just a little bit of vanilla (smells great). Good flavor, although the bourbon overwhelms everything else (which I don’t really mind). Nice bit of smokey flavor as well. The Porter itself is a tad thin and watery, but it is still a fine beer nonetheless. Glad I got to give this one a try. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA May 21, 2008 22oz, bottle courtesy of Brewdad, Thanks! smell is extreme vanilla, lots and lots of it.. taste like a toned down KBS without the extreme flavor of the beer, more with the flavor of the barrel and the complement of the smokey roasty delicious porter... this is a winner, and very good. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA May 16, 2008 22 oz. bottle, No. 4 - pours a deep, ruby brown, clear along the edges and a light tan head; bourbon smacks you right away and slightly overpowers any other aromas; body is thin, but lots of roasty character; some richness to it, but think the porter is a little overwhelmed in this one; have a No. 2 bottle as well, so will have to see how that differs apshah99 (137), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 29, 2008 10.2 ABV, No 4.. Deep brown pour with thin tan head.Acoholic aroma with roasted malt and dark fruit. Tastes of roasted malt, bourbon and chocolate with vanilla and a little licorice. Nice hops in the finish. Delicious, with good carbonation and weighty mouthfeel. Slow drinker. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, biegaman, IPFreely, rudolf & swoopjones -- courtesy of swoopjones. Pours a very dark deep ruby, almost black, with no head. Aroma seemed a little odd to me, it’s bourbony along with lightly roasted malt, vanilla and light hops and ...? -- there was something odd I couldn’t place. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, light hops and vanilla. Alcohol’s reasonably well hidden. Medium bodied. Not great, just pretty good.
