Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 17, 2007 A perennial favorite of mine. From a 22-oz. waxed bottle. Poured a brown-amber body with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Nose of big boubon. Also caught notes of vanilla, chocolate, and some fruit. Creamy mouth feel. Boozy all the way through. A special beer that ages quite well and mellows over time. A+ jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 13, 2007 Updated: Oct 15, 2007650ml/22oz bottle-pours a retaining light brown head that laces and dark brown color with red tint. Aroma is bourbon, secondary vanilla. Taste is bourbon, secondary dark malt-oatmeal, vanilla/cherry, alcohol notes. Creamy mouth feel, smooth. Occasional. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 7, 2007 Picked up single bottle from John’s Market Place in Portland, OR. Pours a semi-cloudy dark brown brew with a fast dissolving off-whtie head that disappears clean. Aroma of aged dark oak, bourbon with a touch of caramel malt, vanilla and some chocolate. Taste is smooth, thick and creamy, medlum bodied with some light carbonation. Flavors is mostly bourbon dark fruits and some chocolate malt. Finish is semi-sweet, with a caramel vanilla aftertaste. Nice alcohol warmth an added feature. NickVega (72), Eugene, Oregon, USA Sep 27, 2007 Wowza! Drink this one last - it will not disappoint. Rich delicious punch in the face. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Sep 27, 2007 Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Oak and funk on the nose. Dark brown body. Strong oak and bourbon on the body with chocolate malt, vanilla, and dark fruits. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Sep 24, 2007 I enjoyed this because while the bourbon is there, it doesn’t overwhelm the beer. The aroma has oak and bourbon as well as some malt. Flavor has sweet malt, light fruit, vanilla, and moderate, but not overwhelming bourbon. It would probably be better with no bourbon at all. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Sep 21, 2007 Many thanks to Skyview for hauling this one back. Dark brown color with no head. Kind of a moderate bourbon aroma: not like a glass of bourbon, but not so weak you can’t tell it’s even there. The bourbon picks up a lot in the flavor. Hop and malt bitterness on the finish. Not bad at all, but it doesn’t seem to know if it wants to be a bourbon aged beer or a glass of bourbon. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA Sep 21, 2007 Thanks to Brewfiend for sharing. Pours a nice deep dark black with a nice tan head. Super sweet bourbon and chocolate on the nose with some raisen and ripe fruit. Dense chocolate and ripe fruits as with a light floral hoppiness. Nice but I am pretty sick of bourbon beers.
