Commercial Description:
Oregon Trail Bourbon Porter is a beer as big as the West. Masterfully brewed in the true pioneer spirit. This robust porter is aged in Kentucky oak bourbon barrels. The result is a deep mahogany elixir, rich with oaky smoothness, bold bourbonesque aroma, with hints of fruit and vanilla. Good at either end of the trail.

Bottle... O-Town Throwdown Part Deux... Pitch black ale with a small, light brown head. The nose is a swirl of rich chocolate, earthy wood and Kentucky bourbon. Well-balanced flavor; chocolaty with a blend of sourmash and vanilla. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Bourbony, chocolaty finish. Pulls up just shy of being an absolute knockout!

22 oz bottle, via kenb. Pours a completely opaque black body under a one inch fizzy brown head that fell to a creamy film. Some patchy lacing. Aroma is more bourbon, vanilla, oak, and alcohol than Porter, that’s for sure. Charred wood, roasted malt, acetone, all over the top. The flavor starts out pretty nice, soft oak, vanilla, roast, just a little bourbon. In fact just hold it in your mouth and roll it around it’s quite awesome. It’s just after you swallow that wrecks it. Hugely alcoholic and so full of bourbon that it kinda takes your breath away. The finish was exactly like taking a huge gulp of straight bourbon. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with an oily texture and pleasant soft carbonation. Extremely warming and very irritating to the esophagus. This beer is the perfect example of why we as beer tasters must swallow versus those who taste wines. If you just spit this guy out you might think that it’s wonderful. I mustered all the strength I had to finish half the bottle.

Pours a dark brown with a light off white head. Get a good dose of that bourbon right away, some chocolate, alot of dark malts, and some roast. The flavor is of bourbon, graham crackers, chocolate, and roast. Pretty complex, with a decent balance to it. Not overly exciting, but solid nonetheless. The finish was fairly smooth, got a little alcochol in the aftertaste.

22oz bottle. The aroma was of vanilla pipe tobacco. Also some wood and sweet aromas. Black body with tan head. Flavor had a whiskey alcohol along with a sweet vanilla tobacco taste. Dry wooden aftertaste on the palate. Good brew.
