| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Bottle: Pitch black, quite dark for a porter, moderate foamy beige head, lacing that is sticky, coats the glass well.   Wonderful
nose of Oak, Bourbon, Vanilla, and more Bourbon. &nbps This seems like the Full Sail version yet not as brash.   Sweet oakish start,
soft vanilla aspects, with a Bourbonesque alcoholic flair on the backside.   Not strong, very well balanced, but the underlying Porter
is not very noticeable.   Good beer, great start, backside starts to thin out a bit but still remains fairly bourbony.   More woody
than other examples.   Porter aspect is indeed secondary, as it is likely too light to compare to the barrel aging.   Not likely to
age well, so I suggest enjoying it while you have it.   The 9.1% ABV is well hidden.   Very tasty example of a Bourbon Porter.
Big props to batkins for saving me one of these!

Black body with tan head. Flavor had a whiskey alcohol along with a sweet vanilla tobacco taste. Dry wooden aftertaste on the palate. Good brew. kramer (2515), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 24, 2007 22 oz bottle, via kenb. Pours a completely opaque black body under a one inch fizzy brown head that fell to a creamy film. Some patchy lacing. Aroma is more bourbon, vanilla, oak, and alcohol than Porter, that’s for sure. Charred wood, roasted malt, acetone, all over the top. The flavor starts out pretty nice, soft oak, vanilla, roast, just a little bourbon. In fact just hold it in your mouth and roll it around it’s quite awesome. It’s just after you swallow that wrecks it. Hugely alcoholic and so full of bourbon that it kinda takes your breath away. The finish was exactly like taking a huge gulp of straight bourbon. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with an oily texture and pleasant soft carbonation. Extremely warming and very irritating to the esophagus. This beer is the perfect example of why we as beer tasters must swallow versus those who taste wines. If you just spit this guy out you might think that it’s wonderful. I mustered all the strength I had to finish half the bottle. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Pours a dark, cherry-brown color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasant, sour-mash whiskey and dried cherry character in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of warm vanilla and whiskey character upfront; light, roasted malt and light porter backdrop; one-dimensional sour-mash whiskey with a light porter framework. Medium, whiskey and light chocolate finish. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2008 2008, version No. 4. Labeled as Bourbon Barrel Porter. 10.2% ABV. Pours moderately translucent and mahogany in color. A small tan head settles to a swirly film, leaving scattered spots and flares of lacing behind. The aroma shows big notes of caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and soft bourbon. The oak has really imparted a major vanilla component. Flavors were soft and luxurious, with the bourbon not overpowering, but rather enhancing the brew. Chocolate and caramel provide sweetness, but vanilla is again the star of the show. Great use of the barrel here. No way on earth should this be considered a Baltic Porter. Medium bodied and smooth. Incredibly easy drinking for 10.2%. This beer is underrated.....period.
