Commercial Description:
Oregon Trail Bourbon Porter is a beer as big as the West. Masterfully brewed in the true pioneer spirit. This robust porter is aged in Kentucky oak bourbon barrels. The result is a deep mahogany elixir, rich with oaky smoothness, bold bourbonesque aroma, with hints of fruit and vanilla. Good at either end of the trail.

22oz bottle. 9.1% version. big thanks to JCB for this great want list extra! pours brown with small off white head. aroma of vanilla with hints of cherry and bourobn. flavor has buttery bourbon notes, oak, vanilla, finishing with some baker’s chocolate. sort of a fizzy mouth feel. medium body. worth seeking out and the barrel aging is pretty well done, the only issue is the base beer as it comes off more as an imperial brown (oh, the style is coming folks) than porter.

Thanks to batkins for this brew this pours a murky brown color with a small head. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oak and some more bourbon. The flavor has lots of, surprise, bourbon and vanilla. it’s surprisingly light bodied with a little bite on the finish. Pretty tasty

Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Oak and funk on the nose. Dark brown body. Strong oak and bourbon on the body with chocolate malt, vanilla, and dark fruits.

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Aroma is redolent with pineapple, vanilla, coconut....all of which is really the effect of oak and bourbon. Still it smells nice. The body is a murky brown and holds a diminishing, bubbly, brown head that never really gets formed before it retreats.
Massive bourbon flavor int he fore. It is also thin on first sip, but you expect that with a bourbon aged beer. It tends to thin even the heartiest of brews. The spicier wood notes are evident in the finish while the middle is smooth chocolate and cream. But, overall this is just too hot with alcohol for me to taste much in the way of a porter. I prefer the barrel-aged asspects of a beer to compliment not to define.
That being said if you like a fairly strong Bourbon presence you definitely should try this beer.

A perennial favorite of mine. From a 22-oz. waxed bottle. Poured a brown-amber body with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Nose of big boubon. Also caught notes of vanilla, chocolate, and some fruit. Creamy mouth feel. Boozy all the way through. A special beer that ages quite well and mellows over time. A+

Bomber. Pours hazy dark brown with ruby lights and a lacy off-white head. Aroma and taste of sweet oaky vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate, bourbon, figs.

Bottle thanks to puddintane for sharing: Dark brown with a small white head. Aroma, oak and bourbon, some chocolate and coffee. Flavor, chocolate, some oak, caramel, coffee, and some bourbon. You won’t forget that the bourbon/oak is there, but it isn’t overwhelming. Solid brew.

Garnet color with a fleeting tan head. Nice nose is medium strong and mostly bourbon with roasted malts and vanilla. Smooth and medium bodied. Good taste is sweet bourbon with dark roasted malts, and mild flavors of wood char and vanilla. Not bourbon overkill like some BA brews. Seems i can’t get enough of that charred wood in these barrel aged brews.
