Commercial Description:
Oregon Trail Bourbon Porter is a beer as big as the West. Masterfully brewed in the true pioneer spirit. This robust porter is aged in Kentucky oak bourbon barrels. The result is a deep mahogany elixir, rich with oaky smoothness, bold bourbonesque aroma, with hints of fruit and vanilla. Good at either end of the trail.

A nice dark beer with some chocolate and bourbon tones on the nose.Flavor was bourbon, wood, chocolate and a hint of a nice earthy cigar.Finish left the chocolate and sweetness lingering a bit.

Pours deep brown with a lasting tight bubbled medium tan head. Awesome oak bourbon nose. The flavor is a bit off, but still oak and coconut mostly. A touch of astringency. A bit thin in the body. Bottle says to drink before 12/24/08, so I think I should have not sat on this one.

22 oz. bottle, No. 4 - pours a deep, ruby brown, clear along the edges and a light tan head; bourbon smacks you right away and slightly overpowers any other aromas; body is thin, but lots of roasty character; some richness to it, but think the porter is a little overwhelmed in this one; have a No. 2 bottle as well, so will have to see how that differs

Bottle. Dark brown, thin head. Nice bourbon, vanilla oak, leather, cocoa, alcohol aroma. I swear vanilla is added to this beer. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet, mildly alcoholic flavor with some chocolate and toffee. The finish is quicker than expected. The barrels add some seriously interesting complexity to a realtively simple porter.

Dark brown, with a tan head. Aromas are vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and oak. Flavors are bourbon, vanilla, coconut, oak, and malt. Body is a little thin. Rather interesting and a nice effort from a brewery I’d never heard of. Thanks to footbalm for this bottle.

Bottle... Poured deep brown with a khaki head. Aroma of vanilla and grains, not so much of dominant bourbon on the nose. A little alcohol up front with smooth, roasted malts in the middle. The bourbon lent to a sweet, creamy palate and dark chocolates in the finish.

No. 1, Thanks Brewdad! Smoky bourbon and a kind of a dark rum thing going on. Simple dark brown. Little sour and metallic, chewy bourbon character, sticky finish.

Poured black with a sweet, candylikearoma. Flavor is sweet vanilla, oak witha light alcohol and wood finish.
