Commercial Description:
Oregon Trail Bourbon Porter is a beer as big as the West. Masterfully brewed in the true pioneer spirit. This robust porter is aged in Kentucky oak bourbon barrels. The result is a deep mahogany elixir, rich with oaky smoothness, bold bourbonesque aroma, with hints of fruit and vanilla. Good at either end of the trail.

Thanks to batkins for this brew this pours a murky brown color with a small head. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oak and some more bourbon. The flavor has lots of, surprise, bourbon and vanilla. it’s surprisingly light bodied with a little bite on the finish. Pretty tasty

Poured a clear dark chestnut color. Moderate strong bourbon notes in the aroma. Big vanilla and a fair amount of sweetness. The flavor was a mix of bourbon and sweet roasted malt. Nice warming sensation. Lively carbonation.

10th Annual SD Strong Ale Fest: Didn’t like it as much here. Found it to be on the thin side.

No.2 bottle. Pretty prominent bourbon in the aroma, doesn’t totally over power the porter aroma, though. The flavor gets pretty oakey. Nice beer, but I feel as though they could dial down the oak a wee bit and come out a bit better balanced.

CL RB gathering. Deep brown/amber with a small off white head. Aroma is huge notes of bourbon, oak, sweet caramel malts. Taste is the same, alot of bourbon that does overpower this beer, I like that occasionally though.

Bottle #05 I would guess the 5th Anniversary. Pours out a dark brown almost black with a nice head. Aroma was of light vanilla and bourbon along with some rich malts. Taste much more of the barrel. All of the bourbon, malts, and vanilla.

Bottle shared by puddintane. Black pour with a light tan nhead. Aroma of taosted coconut, vanilla, light roasted malt. Flavor of oak, coconut, chocolate...decent amount of bourbon elements. Medium body with a sweet fruity finish.

Bomber. Pours hazy dark brown with ruby lights and a lacy off-white head. Aroma and taste of sweet oaky vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate, bourbon, figs.

Brown color with no head. Aroma of brown sugar, choclate, wood bourbon and alcohol. The taste was the same with big alcohol finish.
