Commercial Description:
Oregon Trail Bourbon Porter is a beer as big as the West. Masterfully brewed in the true pioneer spirit. This robust porter is aged in Kentucky oak bourbon barrels. The result is a deep mahogany elixir, rich with oaky smoothness, bold bourbonesque aroma, with hints of fruit and vanilla. Good at either end of the trail.

22oz, bottle courtesy of Brewdad, Thanks! smell is extreme vanilla, lots and lots of it.. taste like a toned down KBS without the extreme flavor of the beer, more with the flavor of the barrel and the complement of the smokey roasty delicious porter... this is a winner, and very good.

From the wax dipped bottle. Pours very dark brown, red hue in the light with a light tan head. Very smooth and rich on the palate, soft with a lot of body. The bourbon comes off nice in the taste, mixing against the chocolate and vanilla flavor. Still tastes a bit hot, might need to sit for a bit first.

No. 2 Bottle shared by Daknole. Pours hazy reddish-brown with thin tan head. Rich bourbon aroma, also filled with coffee, chocolate, coconut, vanilla. Soft, gentle carbonation. Cake crust and mocha cake. Dark chocolate ganache, yum! Roasted coffee. Nice character even if not outstanding.

Pours opaque with dark brown edges and a spotty-lacing light tan head. Lightly sweet caramel malty aroma has some good oaky vanilla bourbon notes. Body starts with a fairly full, rich earthy caramel sweetness with decent bourbon oak and mild butterscotch complexity, thinning slightly toward a drier earthy woody finish with a touch of warmth. Could use a little more malty sweetness, but otherwise a pretty nice beer.

22oz bottle. 9.1% version. big thanks to JCB for this great want list extra! pours brown with small off white head. aroma of vanilla with hints of cherry and bourobn. flavor has buttery bourbon notes, oak, vanilla, finishing with some baker’s chocolate. sort of a fizzy mouth feel. medium body. worth seeking out and the barrel aging is pretty well done, the only issue is the base beer as it comes off more as an imperial brown (oh, the style is coming folks) than porter.

22oz bottle shared by Puddintane! - Thanks - Pours dark brown with no head at all. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, and slight chocolate. Flavor of bourbon, milk chocolate, vanilla, and a little coconut.. Smooth palate with low carbonation. Not bad..

Pours a dark brown with a light off white head. Get a good dose of that bourbon right away, some chocolate, alot of dark malts, and some roast. The flavor is of bourbon, graham crackers, chocolate, and roast. Pretty complex, with a decent balance to it. Not overly exciting, but solid nonetheless. The finish was fairly smooth, got a little alcochol in the aftertaste.

Bomber with an ass load of wax on it. The bottle said 9.5% but if its 11%, ok. Shared with my gf cyn, this came via trade, with who I have no clue. Pours black with a 1 finger tan head. Bourbon Vanilla nose. Taste is roasty with big notes of bourbon. Overall pretty good.
