Date and dark bitter chocolate nose. Striking black with a nice tan head. Dark bittersweet chocolate dominates followed by fig and dark fruit flavors with coffee, burned caramel, and earthy notes finishing off the flavor. Nice mouth feel, nice weight and clean finish. Overall it’s not overly complex, but has alot going on. Very good and drinkable!

(SCOTLAND) Pours a nice dark brown almost black in color with a med off white head. The aroma is of dark malts, hops, and chocolate. The taste has a pleasant smoky flavor with some chocolate, malts, and a hint of espresso. The mouthfeel has a nitro feel to it that is very smooth and refreshing !!! There was also some wonderful lacing in the glass.

Bottle from ’Beersofeurope.co.uk’: Pours a rich, thick almost black colour. Very nice aroma of sour roast malt and chocolate. The flavour is roast malt, with a little chocolate and fruit. Slight sourness as you’d expect from an old ale. This is a really good example of an old ale.

Bottle, 4.6%. Papery, sour, roasted, and vinous aroma. Almost black colour, red shine. Small light brown head. The flavour is mostly roasted, slightly smokey. There is a lot of cream to it along with a little vinousness. Thin mouthfeel, could use some oats or something.
