This is a typical scotish ale with a light to medium sweetness. It has a intens fruity aroma and a medium body and a good dosis of fine malts and hints of fresh roasted coffeebeans. In the afthertaste there is a nice boost of nobel hops. Fine bitterness in the end. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Caramel. Who knows. Medium body with a slightly watery texture. Flavor was whiskey, caramel, some smoke, roasted coffee. Good stuff. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

Big malt but creamy and milky with a touch of licorice. Color is a murky dark brown. Very smoky flavor with more malts and a decent helping of hops to offset the malt. Flavor is a little lacking. Finish is not what I expected. Thin and fizzy with a strange sour and burnt sensation on the tongue. Feels like more than 4.6% alcohol also. A decent scottish ale that starts off great but ends kind of dissapointing. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark

very powerfull liqurice and smoke to the nose. Although that lasts into the taste too, the fine hopping give the brew a fresh feeling too it. Big heath-aftertaste. A prie example of scottish ales. Thank you, Orkney Brewery. cb (809), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2004 Beautiful dirt-colored ale with frothy head. Smoky, dark corn syrup and brown sugar aroma. A lot of dark chocolate and just a touch of coffee adds another dimension to the malts. I love how they don’t go wacky and put a lot of hops to "add body." Very true to style, a lot of flavor for the low ABV. FROTHINGSLOSH (2010), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

The scent is chocolate, coffee and molasses. The flavor is dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoke. This beer is a little thin, and the flavor is kind of disappointing compared to the scent.
