Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. A deep red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of dark Danish rye-bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and Danish rye-bread, but the body is thin.

Cask at Tennent’s Bar, Glasgow. Very dark brown. Malty and gently roasty. Sweet and medium bodied with oily mouthfeel and notes of wood. Low bitterness.

Cask @ GBBF 2007, London. Black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, strong coffee, burnt. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to short duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

Cask at GBBF08. Nice roasted aroma, good and creamy. Very dark brown colour. Stable frothy light brown head. Good roasted flavour, dark bread, chocolate. Mild yet flavourful. Like a cask Dunkel.

Cask@GBBF2007. Dark rubyish amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is caramel, slight stinging sweetness along with red berries and roasted malts. Flavour is roasted malts, raisins and dark dry fruits. Pleasant and refreshing.

1. Cask Stillage at the Memorial Hall, Northwich 22/09/2001 Dark coloured and rich on the palate. Some roast malt in the finish. 2. Cask Stillage at the Mill At The Pier, Wigan 09/03/2002 Black with some fruit flavour. Smooth roast finish. 3. Cask Handpump at the Cross Keys, Knutsford 11/02/2003 Dark coloured and smooth on the palate. Chocolaty roast finish. 4. Cask Handpump at Aitchie’s Ale House, Aberdeen 22/09/2007 Roast aroma. Small beige head. Dark and slightly rich on the palate with some sour fruit flavour. Crisp and dry coffee roast finish.

Cask at Doctor Duncan’s Liverpool Dark ruby beer with excellent chocolate and coffee burnt malt aromas. Good grainy mouthfeel with a drying finish with more of the chocolate/coffee flavour. One of the best dark beers to come out of Scotland
