Pours pitch black with a brown creamy head. Nose is mega roasted. Lots of hard roasted coffee, caramel, chocolate and vague smoke. flavor has peat smoke - a bit too heavy for my likings. Smooth, phat and oily palate. Oak and whisky. Low carbonation. Vinous and very salty.... tipsytoad (84), Jersey

Given the relatively poor quality of the regular Orkney beers now I was pleased to find that it was brewed by Rob Hill (the original brewer) who made Orkney into one of the best in the UK until it was taken over. This beer is excellent, with lots of whisky, chocolate and fruit in the nose and some oak. Bullit (1352), Glasgow, Scotland
