The aroma is sweet and acidic with strong notes of whiskey and wood. The flavor is sweet with a powerful note of whiskey as well as brettanomyces which lends it an acidity, but also medium notes of alcohol, prunes, and wood, as well as hints of salt. Very beautiful and complex aroma with lots of dried fruit. Flat appearance but yet very full-bodied with loads of roasted malt and dried fruit - port-like. Discreet hoppiness. Wauw for an excellent and complex brew. 281006 yespr (12246), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown / black color with virtually none head. Nice nose, clear more warmer and mature then the regular Dark Island, the whisky shows very soft and mixes perfectly with the malty aromas. Long warm finish with lots of power, fruity pleasant aromas of berries, dried figs and prunes. Little carbonation, slightly bitter and a bit thin in texture. I must say as "henrikb" it is a very good idea to age the Dark Island in Whisky barrels, the beer has really gained from it.
