thewolf (5623), Kolding, Denmark Dec 29, 2007 Bottle, bought @ Skjold Burne, Lilletorv, Aarhus. Pours utterly black with a small frothy baige head. Good lacing. Aroma is deeply roasted with tones of chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is light, and could be mistaken for a little too thin. Flavour balances hard roasted malts well with lots of chocolate. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Dec 24, 2007 smooth and very typical of a stout. all you would expect in proper measure. low alcohol not noticeable and extra points for that. velvety and creamy but not too much so. touch of chocolate this is fairly good. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 23, 2007 Poured a deep black with a dense, thick brown-tan head. Big frothy lacing. Nose of big robust chocolate coffee syrup. Peaty, nutty and super robust. Thick salty nutty, mildly bitter, and chalky flavor. Pretty damn smooth! popdoggy (100), USA Dec 21, 2007 Whoaaa.. I hope something was wrong with this. It tasted like twisted metal. Definately a watery, unimpressive stout. I should have flushed my dollars down the toilet. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Dec 18, 2007 16.9 ounce bottle in pint glass. Black with dense light brown head and some lace. Chocolate syrup, coffee, and chocolate chip cookie aroma. Roasted chocolate flavor with clean medium bitter finish. Medium body and carbo. A nice sessionable stout. reddragon (28), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Dec 14, 2007 One of the finest stouts I’ve tasted. more creamy than thick (from the bottle), with hints of nuts and peat? yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Dec 14, 2007 Tasted 14/12/2007. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits. Pours black, with a disappearing airy tan head. It’s near perfect from here. Where do I start? Fantastic balance and integration. Splendid entry, sublime exit. Subtle yet quite overt. Everything on the nose, follows through on the palate. Just ripe plums; aged port; dark bitter chocolate; fruity freshly-roasted coffee beans; fruitcake crust - just a touch overcooked; peat; a hint of greenish oak; a mix of dried fruit; a little milk chocolate, toasted grainy bread; sweet nuts. Light-medium weight and medium carbonation. Superb beer, superb brewery. These guys have a magic yeast. Is Orkney the world’s best ’new world’ brewery? The world’s best, bar none? I’d be hard pressed to pick a better one. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 8, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours black with a nice one finger tan head. Sweet aroma of chocolate light coffee, and some dried fruit. Flavor of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and notes of cocoa with a dry finish.
