Its like the perfect mix between a scotch ale and a dry stout. You get the peatiness and maltiness of the scottish ale with the dark toastiness and clean finish of the stout. Complex and refined taste all over your mouth with an extra aftertaste at the end like a smoked out chocolate kiss. YUM! Braudog (3752), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Bottle: Orgasmic pour ... pitch black with a textbook tan waterfall of a bubbly rising head. The aroma is whiskey and dried dark fruit. This drinks with a robust, dark roasted and smoky peat as the basis. Bit more watery than you’d think for such a big brew. But I could easily see this, at a hair-higher temperature, warming my insides in a dank, damp Scottish pub, instead of my dank, damp Virginia TV room. Excellent stout. Please pass the bangers and mash. (#3173, 11/4/2007) IrishBoy (2706), Bakersfield, California, USA

Body very thin. Ok, but not really my cup of tea in a stout when I have Kern River here most of the time. Pastor (509), Maine, USA

It was creamy but the body was not as full as I like for a stout .My tastebuds picked up on the chocolate malts ,some what of a burned after taste there is also a lite hoppyness to it as well . I give the bottle high marks for the art work tho definatly one for the colection thornecb (1755), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

Milk chocolate and smoke aromas. Oily and slightly thin with upfront espresso and a lasting sour, roasted chocolate finish. Lots of flavor for 4%. Choos (504), Taylors Hill, Australia

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 28, 2007 This stout pours a deep black color from a 500ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head, long lasting with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Light to medium bodied stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are earthy. Nice balance. Soft mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish. Kind of thin tasting, but that may be due more to the 4% alcohol than any defect in the beer. This is a decent session stout, if such a thing exists. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. elgiacomo (69), Ringgold, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 21, 2007 A slightly above average stout. Pours a very dark brown with a small very fizzy active head that quickly disappears. Aroma and flavor are very roasted, malts, some chocolate & coffee. Not too bad. Mouthfeel is kind of thin for a stout, medium carbonation. A decent stout to drink in the summertime, but I prefer heavier, bigger stouts than this.
