aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Oct 12, 2006 Mildly astringent nose with very roasted and nutty aromas. Slight peat and earth on the palate with a drying husky finish. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 1, 2006 Black color with a nice creamy, dark tan head. Nice roasty chocolate aroma. Very smooth with only a touch of bitterness in the finish. A very nice session stout. At 4% I would be happy to drink this all night. I doubt I will ever see it on cask, so I can only wonder at how good it would be. ajolly2 (123), USA Aug 17, 2006 Bought it for the bottle alone; wasn’t disappointed with the overall experience. Has a little bit of a watered-down coffee taste. Not one of my favorites, but I would drink it again. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia Aug 16, 2006 Looks pretty good - dark black but with a filtered gleam. Sharp liqueury chocolate smell and a dry roasted flavour that is quite smooth. Quite slick in the mouth, with a fairly long lasting taste - a bit surprising given it’s only 4% abv. Quite enjoyable - slides down easily indeed. (Thanks to highlandlad) Wacher (129), Århus C, Denmark Jul 28, 2006 Pitch black! Black currant notes in the aroma along with roasted malts. Acidic coffee flavor. But not much flavor really. Very watery and dry! Doesn’t do it for me. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Jul 17, 2006 My only complaint is that it is too watery. Very fine tasting stout otherwise. Pours jet black with a nice thin head. Tastes of roasted coffee and not much else. Very refreshing for a stout. I picked this up at the Bier Stein in Eugene. It was expensive, but the taste is very unique and well worth the price. At 4% alcohol though....I think I could have done better. Worth trying at least once, but I would love to have a fridge full of this just to sip on all day. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jul 9, 2006 This pours a very deep, nearly black body with a thick, creamy light brown head that "laces" in sheets as you drink. The aroma is of lightly roasted malts with a splash of coffee and cream and a light smokiness. Very smooth and soothing palate. The flavor continues with the lightly roasted malts, coffe & cream, a hint of smoke, and just a dab of bittersweet chocolate. Very good sessionable beer.

reygato (12), USA Jul 5, 2006 Pours black with thin head that disappates rather quickly. Has a rather smokey aroma, flavor is balanced, with a fairly strong initial taste followed by a very smoky aftertaste; reminded me of roasted espresso bean. The richness of this stout does not measure up to others I have had, and the taste does not match the darkness and aroma. Still it is better than many, and while not a rogue or a guinness, it does offer a nice variety that should be sipped and enjoyed.
