Dragonblaze99 (349), Greater London, England Aug 27, 2009 Dark-roasted malt aroma. Black with off-white large head. Flavour is malt, vinegar, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Thin body. Finishes plastic. A disappointment. dmac (1417), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 13, 2009 500 ml bottle from Jonathan Ron. Pours a very bubbly bodied solid black with a large soapy beige head. The initial aroma was very nice, dark chocolate, vanilla exract, slight coffee. However just moments later that nice aroma changes too a very grassy, rotting flowers, plastic scent, ugh where did that nice initial aroma go?? The body on this one is very thin with super bubbly lively carbonatin, sort of lke seltzer. Flavor has some decent burnt and roasted malts with chocolate notes and grassy hops. All in all this beer was a let down. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jul 30, 2009 Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is smoke, roast malt, and a hint of coffee. Flavor is roasted malt, smoke, and a bit of hop. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jul 7, 2009 Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Pours a dark brown with a medium tan head. Chocolatey aroma with dark fruit and apple notes. More chocolate and apple in the flavor with a smoky and dry finish. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Jul 6, 2009 Black body with a good size, lasting, tan head. Coffee and roasted notes on the aroma. Similar in the taste, light enough in body and alcohol to drink plenty of these. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 22, 2009 Dark black with a thin tan foam. Huge aroma of berries, roast, ashy, some light chocolate, coffee. Taste is soapy, fruity, berries, odd almost vinegar taste accompanies a dry ashiness. Unpleasant. Kestral (191), Oslo, Norway Jun 12, 2009 Pours black with a huge long lasting brown fizzy head. Aroma is powdery cocoa, chocolate, apple, roasted notes, Flavour is a bit of a letdown. It’s fairly complex, but not as big and flavourful as i wanted it to be. Ashy, a bit smoked, roasted malt, cocoa and chocolate, a little salty. Finishes quite bitter, can’t pin down the character of the hops. Surprisingly flavourful for the low abv, but a little bit on the thin side. Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2009 Dark and and great smell, even for a stout. Unfortunately, it seems the brewers forgot to add some flavor. This is like water. slight bitterness and smokiness, but you have to mull it over for a while.
