Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Dec 30, 2005 (Big thanks to Papsoe.) 50 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom. Black colour with a nice creamy head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Mild but great flavour with a lot of roasted taste, ends up a little bitter, but nice. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2005 Updated: Jan 6, 2006A bit thin, mild taste of coffee and toasty malts. Watery yet a little oily in its texture Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 11, 2005 Off-white film lasts a while atop the deep clear brown pour. Powdery chocolate notes climb through the heavily carbonated form underneath. Slightly woody light and malty flavours. Tartish toasted pumpernickel undertones boasts some originality in a good way all the while mineral and metallic character develops in a not so competent manner between roasted interludes. Very light palate, moderate carbonation. Average. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 8, 2005 500mL bottle. Pours black with some faint dark brown hints and a small, mostly diminishing tan rocky head that soon becomes a film with some lined lacing. Dark sweet roasted caramel and chocolate malt (meal, cookie) and oat aroma. Sour and oily yeast (sweat, horse blanket) flavor, dark and slighltly bitter dark chocolate notes and a light hop acidity. Dark bodied and oily, thin palate. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Nov 30, 2005 Deep dark brown body, with small tan head. Aromas of burnt malt and hints of chocolate. The flavor is dry roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Very Good beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 23, 2005 Pours a deep black color with a ring of light brown lace. Aroma and flavor of vanilla and coffee. The body is light with a creamy texture and low carbonation. I thought this would be way better, oh well... MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 21, 2005 The Lure: Anise and vanilla sweetness surface atop the chocolatey malts. Somewhat vinous after a while, this is nonetheless a pretty attractive and intriguing perfume.
The Festivities: Roasted malts and dark chocolate relinquish their seductive powers to the overbearing mineral dryness. Chalk is brought up, sadly helped by the agressive carbonation. Some fruitiness manages to get through, but the dry metal sheets squash all hopes for tasty nourishment.
Transcendence: Zealousness breeds contempt. Nekronos (2261), Xalapa, Mexico Nov 20, 2005 Updated: Feb 12, 2006Well, definiitelly better than the Cask one, but I guess something was wrong with the equipment. This was a very good stout, although a little soft sometimes. Smoked, chocolate features on it. Good head, but tiring after a while.
