| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2004 deep. dark color, with crimson highlights, beneath a creamy cocoa-tan head.
Aroma is gentle, yet still roasty, emitting warm notes of chocolate and coffee, rich, bittersweet, with espresso tinges, and fairly uplifting, I like it!
Warm, rich, smooth satisfying mouthfeel. Just drips over the palate, lolls around the tongue, very silky smooth.
Not as thick or full as some stouts, but that’s okay, sometimes. Thoroughly pleasing, with an additional toffeeish sweetness, that really brings a smile.
I can’t help but like this beer, and I’d advise you to try it, at least. Doesn’t rock any worlds, but damned if it doesn’t taste good, and that’s all I’m caring about right about now.

Black with a light tan head, minimal lacing, nice aroma of roasted coffee, flavor is similar, light roasted coffee, hints of chocolate, some and a slight watery, coffee finish. Very nice and enjoyable beer. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2004 Pours a nice, dark black color with a medium head that wears down to a thin lace. Aroma of whisky... possibly Lagavulin. The taste is more whisky and heavily roasted malts. A little tinge of sour as well. Very nice; I would definitely buy this again. run20six2 (119), USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Wow — a 4% stout. A session stout. Surprisingly dark and opaque for a session beer ... or surprisingly thin for a stout. Surprisingly complex for a session beer, with bitter coffee and malt and maybe, just maybe a bit of smoke, or surprisingly simple for a stout. Don’t love it ... not enough there to love ... but a very, very good easy drinking session beer.
