Got a bottle of this from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, NY. Pours black with a dark brown head. Smells and tastes like stale cigarette smoke, if the cigarette was dipped in coffee. Quickly disappearing aftertaste of - yep, you guessed it - cigarette smoke. A disappointing offering from a great brewery.

Bottle from total wine. glack pour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted chocolate and coffee beans. Flavor is a tad bitter and flat. Not such a great stout here. Too roated, not enough body....blah.

Nice dark black color with a decent head that stuck around longer than I expected. Aromas of roasted malts and some chocolate. Touches of dried fruit. Flavors fell off a bit. Somewhat watery with some dust and metal. Still nicely roasty. Less chocolate, but touches of coffee. Still pretty decent.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is sweet malts, with a strong chocolate body to it. Flavor is not too overpowering, smooth, with touches of roasted malts. It’s a shame half of it went all over my carpet when I accidentally spilled my beer.

Dark brown with a huge lasting but coarse chocolate head. The aroma is quite poor, some chocolate, very little roasted, some earthy hop. Watery, root bitter, useless.

500mL bottle. Poured clear medium-dark brown with a shorter-lived cap of beige head. The aroma picked up molasses and licorice over a bed of sweeter chocolates.. nice roast to it.. just a hair of smoked peat rounded this out just beautifully. The flavor wasn’t far off, showcasing a blend of chocolates and the aforementioned peat.. charred smoke rolled off the back of the palate.. hops didn’t make too much of an impression (just a bit of herbal character).. finished with a bit of woodsy sourness and more smoked chocolate. Rather lightly-bodied and I wish it had a little more substance on the middle.. sourness was slightly off-putting on the back. Overall a very good stout.

500 ml bottle thanks to daknole. This is my type of beer, the manliness is just spilling out of the glass! Pours a pure black color with a thick brown head. The aroma was amazing; sweet and rich chocolates, roasted malts, smoke and more roasted notes. The taste is very smooth, loads of roasted malts, some metallic hops and other flavors, sweet burnt caramel and light chocolates. A very full and creamy mouthfeel. Very full of minerals and metallic flavors, which I love. Just an awesome stout. Orkney kicks ass!

(Bottle BB nov. 05, thanks to Porter-Otto and Åsa) Pours dark brown with red hints and a light brown head. The aroma is of chocolate/cocoa roast, light burned coffee, nuts, mild fruits, tiny caramel and vanilla. The flavour is cocoa/coffee roasted. Rather dry, dusty and ashy. Light to medium acidic. Watery and soft with a light carbonation. Light bodied.
