We are talking black here, with a huge tan head with little hints of black dipping through in places. Like drinking a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso dropped in for that roasted taste. Full of body and flavor, but kind of one sided. Lots of chocolate and a bit of nutty goodness in the aftertaste. This one does not last very long at all. Suttree (2742), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2003 Deep garnet color, tan head that last the entire glass. Rosted coffee bean arom and flavor, and has a dry, chocolatey finish. Somewhere in the middle, however, there some sort of mediciney taste that seems out of place and kind of ruins the whole thing. If I drink another and this turns out to be spoilage of some sort, I'll re-rate. IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA

Body very thin. Ok, but not really my cup of tea in a stout when I have Kern River here most of the time. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2005 (Big thanks to Papsoe.) 50 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom. Black colour with a nice creamy head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Mild but great flavour with a lot of roasted taste, ends up a little bitter, but nice. nick76 (2684), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jan 6, 2006 The aroma is chocolate, coffee, caramel, and very well toasted malt. The appearance is black with a medium head. The flavor is like toasted bread and chocolate. You can also describe this stout as sweet, bitter, and just a little salty. The palate is just about right but the aftertaste is somewhat acidic. Overall it’s not great but it’s pretty good. notalush (2684), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Dark ruby with foamy head of large bubbles - roasty, smokey aroma, with hints of wood, cocoa, some light mineral character - very dry and chalky - almost too dry - it feels like it’s sucking the moisture right out of my tongue - rather thin flavor - some cocoa and anise come through - perhaps if it weren’t filtered it would be more flavorful, but this really doesn’t do much for me. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Toasted, nutty, cream and coffee aroma. Good bottle, pitch black beer. Big Khaki eternal head. Mostly smooth, a bit of coffee acidity, mostly dry. Medium bodied. Finish is quick, given the roastiness of the beer. Overall, this wasn’tt as complex as I would have liked, but very good and smooth. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark

Aroma of dark roasted malt, tar and a lot of smoke. Somewhat thin flavor but still very smokey with a little malt underneath. Too thin, too smokey and not very good!
