Some coffee and chocolate. Nice head, but it dies quickly. Medium bodied with a very sharp bitterness. Tastes like wood. This would be better if the aroma gave way to a similar taste. Enjoyable beer, kind of odd stout. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 31, 2006 Poured an incredibly dark brown / black with a nice head that dissapated somewhat quickly. Tastes of smokiness and malts with a hint of coffee tones. My overall feeling is that this brew was too thin, almost watered down. It got my hopes up at first, but the taste never really delivered. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Large light brown head initially, then settles into a thin covering, lace is thin but coating. Nose is fruity up front followed by a light roast aroma and maybe a touch vinous. Body is medium, a hint chalky but with a silky mouthfeel, nice. Flavors of chocolate, light roast, cocoa and some earthy dirty notes as well. Finish is fairly dry, roasty and bittersweet. A decent little quaff. Marsiblursi (1644), Göteborg, Sweden
