Orkney Dragonhead Stout (Bottle)

500mL bottle. Pours black with some faint dark brown hints and a small, mostly diminishing tan rocky head that soon becomes a film with some lined lacing. Dark sweet roasted caramel and chocolate malt (meal, cookie) and oat aroma. Sour and oily yeast (sweat, horse blanket) flavor, dark and slighltly bitter dark chocolate notes and a light hop acidity. Dark bodied and oily, thin palate.

Dark brown, rocky milk chocolate head. Peaty smoke, some sweetness, Coffee, some licorice. Easy drinking, a bit too light and thin. Could we ask for an imperial version of this? But it is a lovely session beer, and I’d really like to try a cask version.

500 ml bottle pours with a small bubbled tan head. Aroma is sweet choolate and rich day old coffee. First taste is nicely bitter but a bit thin bodied. Flavors are good though but just too damn thin. Some tobacco in there as well.

Bottle. Poured a medium sized tan head that mostly diminished, poor lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a black hue. Nose was malty, coffee, roasty, and a little smokey. Flavor was coffee, malt, roasty, somewhat burnt tasting, thin, a little smokey, and a little bit of chocolate. Mouthfeel was slightly tingly and thin for this style. Light-medium body. Thin texture for this style and. There are better of this style out there IMO.

Pours near black with a brown halo. The head is brownish red. Nose is roasted malt and burnt wood. Some lighter coffee notes as well. The taste seems more of the same - roasted malt, burnt wood, and some coffee. The body is a little thin but this in no way detracts from the beer. Otherwise the finish is smooth but a little bitter from the light hops and coffee. Good beer!

Good dark stout appearance with a dark head. Mild coffee aroma with a very a smooth bitter flavour with a very bitter finish. Overall though a basic stout.

Black as night pour with a creamy, lactic, off-white head with sticky lacing. Bitter Coffee aroma with a touch of licorice. Has a bit of a chocolately flavor with some coffee mixed in - notice a bit of frutiness as well. Creamy mouthfeel, but the lacticity gets just a bit cloying near the end and turns a bit too "earthy" tasting. Still, not a bad stout though.

Bottled(500ml). -Deep black coloured, medium sized dark brown head, light smoked chocolate cocoa nose. Very smooth, roasted malt, chocolate and strong bitter coffee taste. Lack of alcohol is obvious. Pleasant lingering bitter chocolate aftertaste.
