Slightly sweet and moderately roasted dark malty aroma with notes of (milk-)chocolate, leather, mocha, peat and subtle berry-fruity notes. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Dry mouthfeel, moderately roasted and peaty malty taste with notes of chocolate and subtle fruits; dry and moderately roasty and hop bitter, also a bit slim finish. Still a very aromatic and peaty Stout. 09.XI.09 M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Bottle. Pours a thick black with a tan head that fades quickly. Nose is roasted caramel malt, espresso, chocolate and a touch of rose turkish delight. Flavour is big on malts, burned and toasted maltiness and some long sand-dune grass. Quite gulpable, but not excruciatingly smooth. Finishes on the roasted side with some espresso bitterness and some lingering malt sweetness. Quite nice, could use some more ABV and a little less harshness on the immediate taste, but the smoothness makes up for it. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark

Black colour with a nice creamy head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Mild but great flavour with a lot of roasted taste, ends up a little bitter, but nice. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Looks pretty good - dark black but with a filtered gleam. Sharp liqueury chocolate smell and a dry roasted flavour that is quite smooth. Quite slick in the mouth, with a fairly long lasting taste - a bit surprising given it’s only 4% abv. Quite enjoyable - slides down easily indeed. (Thanks to highlandlad) KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

Peaty smoke, some sweetness, Coffee, some licorice.
Easy drinking, a bit too light and thin. Could we ask for an imperial version of this? But it is a lovely session beer, and I’d really like to try a cask version. yespr (12345), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 30, 2007 6/29/2007: Dragonhead Stout is very dark brown (clear) with a frothy beige head. The aroma is really good and is just like creamy milk chocolate. There is also a touch of roasted malt and dry cocoa powder. The flavor is quite dry (not really what I was expecting), but good nonetheless. Flavors of cocoa powder, roasted malt, and dark, bitter chocolate are present. The flavor is good overall, but a couple more percentage points of alcohol would have been welcomed and appreciated though. The medium to medium-full body is very smooth and creamy on the palate. Dragonhead Stout is a very interesting and solid beer. It would probably be more at home in the Dry Stout style category. Regardless, this is a beer that I will definitely drink again in the future.
500 ml bottle (sample) at the River’s Bend Wine & Spirits weekly beer tasting. Thanks Matt (mball581)!
