Thick black/brown coloring with a milk chocolate colored head. Roasted coffee flavoring isn't weak at all but is detracted from by a watery quality on the palate. Aftertaste is roasted and peaty like the aroma. You have to like peat flavoring to appreciate this one like you would an Islay scotch. scotty (834), Scotland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 28, 2007 A cracker! Typical stout in appearance, good head and nice lines down the glass. Rich roast malt /coffee nose, very smooth palate, perhaps just a touch light, could perhaps do with another % of alcohol to add a bit more body, but never mind it’s lovely and worth seeking out. This came from The Fine Wine Shop on Musselburgh High Street. awebster (165), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Head dissipates rather quickly leaving nice lacing all along the glass. Rich chocolate malt aroma with dark roasted coffee notes. Tastes of chocolate with dark roasted coffee. I loved this. Could easily drink more. douglas88 (1676), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

This is my type of beer, the manliness is just spilling out of the glass! Pours a pure black color with a thick brown head. The aroma was amazing; sweet and rich chocolates, roasted malts, smoke and more roasted notes. The taste is very smooth, loads of roasted malts, some metallic hops and other flavors, sweet burnt caramel and light chocolates. A very full and creamy mouthfeel. Very full of minerals and metallic flavors, which I love. Just an awesome stout. Orkney kicks ass! maeib (4772), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2005 Bottled. A big black beer with a nice tan coloured head. The aroma is full and roasty with lots of coffee notes. The taste is also nicely roasty with a little fruitiness at the end for good measure. A really good beer with typical stouty qualities. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 14, 2004 Medium sized, toasted marshmellow colored head. Liquid is very dark. Aroma of coffe and cookie dough. Boy I might have to say that this is the best Non-Russian Stout that I have had. Super smooth and soft mouth feel. Flavor is not overly bitter. Dry finish. I could drink a lot of these in a Pub somewhere. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 19, 2004 Wow this is the best example of a dry stout Ive sampled thus far. This blows Guinness and Murphy’s out of the water! A good roasted malt and coffee aroma. Dark black apperance with a large beige head. The flavor is dry roasted malts, coffee, chocoate, and espresso. This has alot more body than your typical nitro stuff. Anyone that still thinks Guinness is the king of the dry stout style, you need to try this!
