Black colour, big and creamy brown head. Pleasant aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of smoke and tar. The flavour has roasted malts, mild coffee and dark bitter chocolate, some fruit in the finish, with a roasty bitterness and moderate hops in the aftertaste. Good beer, but would probably profit from a higher ABV. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA

The head stays around for the long hall. The aroma is very roasted with lots of french roast coffee & milk chocolate notes as well, light soy sauce once it warms up. The flavor is very smoky and nonassertive. Very balanced finish, not too bad, good solid flavors and a good finish. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Mouthfeel was a wee thin for a stout. Flavor was chocolare and coffee and a touch of smoke. Decent. bark (255), Linköping, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Bottle. The colour is pitch-dark; the medium compact, two-finger high foam is brown with some beige spots.
The smell is full of burned dry malts and some coffee with a hint of butter/cream.
The carbonation is rather strong (stronger than I expected for a stout) with small bubbles.
The taste is burned with dry notes of coffee, dark bread, soil, toffee cookies and a touch of salt. The body is rather weak with a medium-strong bitterness. The aftertaste is also burned with a creamy feel and a slowly growing sweetness. It is not particularly long lasting, but well balanced.
I found this being a rather mild stout, making it easy to drink. thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway

Wonderful chocolate, vanilla and espresso aroma. Earthy flavours, almost a bit meaty, with good roast. Dry finish. Solid stuff. thornecb (1807), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
