[Cask at Charlies Bar, Copenhagen] A pitch black beer with a nice bubbly brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate as well as light notes of roasted grain. The flavor has strong notes of chocolate and some roasted notes, leading to an extremely dry and roasted end. The mouthfeel is flat but very smooth.

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Black colour, low head. Roasty aroma, hints of dark chocolate. Flavour is decidedly roasty with coffee notes, quite dry. Not very complex, but beats Guinness any day!

Cask version, Castlecary Hotel, Scotland. Wasn’t expecting it to be so smokey, but after a couple of supps, it was really quite pleasant.

Cask, Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. Aroma of roasted malt, some hop, laurel, licorice. Taste of roated malt again, quite bitter, laurel comes up again just as in guinness. Smooth mouthfeeling. Good stuff!

Cask : The Trafangler, S. Wimbledon. Jet black beer with a slight colour in the head. Dry and bitter with not that much body. Not that easy drinking for a 4% beer. Not much sign of chocolate/malt etc...

Cask conditioned at The Horse & Groom, Caulcott, Oxon. Dark brown to black beer with a whisp of a tan head. Initially a little sweet and fruity, though somewhat thin the beer then gives a dry bitter finish. Hoppy at the end, the chocolate malt is somewhat restrained.

Big fan of this fellow. Aroma is very similar to dark island with loads of roasted malt and goodness. Taste is similar, and a bit dangerous with its drinkablity. Great session ale.
