blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Jul 17, 2006 My only complaint is that it is too watery. Very fine tasting stout otherwise. Pours jet black with a nice thin head. Tastes of roasted coffee and not much else. Very refreshing for a stout. I picked this up at the Bier Stein in Eugene. It was expensive, but the taste is very unique and well worth the price. At 4% alcohol though....I think I could have done better. Worth trying at least once, but I would love to have a fridge full of this just to sip on all day.
ogivlado (2319), Zagreb, Croatia Sep 4, 2008 Bottled(500ml). -Deep black coloured, medium sized dark brown head, light smoked chocolate cocoa nose. Very smooth, roasted malt, chocolate and strong bitter coffee taste. Lack of alcohol is obvious. Pleasant lingering bitter chocolate aftertaste. Maverick34 (454), New York, USA Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Strong coffee malty aroma but a pretty watery taste. Good but bark > bite. vyvvy (1689), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours very dark brown with a dark tan / orange head. The aroma has roasted malt, cream, vanilla and a mix of milk and dark chocolate. Medium thick body with a bit of creaminess at first and then it gets overly thin on the finish with very light carbonation. The flavor starts with charred malt, bitter dark chocolate and a slight bit of citrus. The finish is a bit astringent. Overall it is a respectable stout. Ibrew2or3 (1705), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2008 0.5L bottle poured deep dark brown with mocha head. The aroma is a mix of gingerbread, fruit cake, molasses, rum cake and caramel. Smells nice but not what I was expecting. The taste begins with roasty burnt malts. I then get vanilla, burnt molasses and faint dark fruity esters. It ends roasty and toasty leaving burnt malts, chocolate malts and a dash of coffee grounds lingering into the after taste. Tastes a bit different than it smells.
