| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 1, 2006 (bottle - 500 ml) Clear copper pour with a very thick and puffy tan head. The aroma is very light and slightly hoppy with hints of malt and some slight floral notes. Bitter and hoppy taste at first with a slightly sweet and malty middle and a crisp finish and a bitter aftertaste with just the slightest hint of apple peels. Not a bad beer. Aroma is noticeably hopy and not the type id normally accociate with orkney, but good. Taste is full and a smokey peatiness comes though with a good malty body. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 13, 2005 Tasted from the bottle at my usual haunt, the ’Moon & Sixpence’, Perth. The second glorious warm day this late in the year so I’m feeling generous. The last bottle available too, and poured into a pint glass. Deepest ruby-copper body, quite clear, with a thin, dwindling off-white head that left some legs. Very, very subtle, roasted and toasted, peaty malt nose with a slight tang to it. Disappointing, as it was quite flavoursome. Deep and richly malty in the mouth, a little thin in body and very soft in carbonation. Fruity esters like cherries and blackberries mix with the peaty, Scottish style malt tones that make this a loyal feast of a beer. As it warmed it showed a little lime in the back before a fruity and malty swallow that left some peaty and smoky malt in the mouth. Better at around room temperature as it was served chilled. Easy drinker, no less, but it seemed more an Irish Red as I didn’t catch any note of the hops. Grand Sunday!!!. (50cL, BBE 09/05)
