Dark red color with a thin head. Kind of a light malty aroma that hints at something... oh there it is, smoke! Lots of smoke and wood in the taste. I was quite surprised to see this as a Scottish Ale as it could very easily be mistaken for a Smoked. Quite nice.

(Bottled) Very beautiful, dark amber color with a smallish, off-white head. Perfumed, malty, oaky and flowery aroma. Quite smoky, very malty, sweetish flavor. Medium-bodied, soft palate with balanced carbonation. A pleasantly smoky, malty and reasonably full-bodied brew.

I had tried this one during a beer festival and had liked it, so I was looking forward to getting a whole bottle. Sampled from a 16.9 oz clear bottle the beer poured a dark ruby-mahogany color with lots of floaters. There was a sour vinegar aroma. The beer was somewhat flat. The flavor was bitter, had some hops and some roasted malt on the finish. Really I think I got a bad bottle. But any brewer that cares so little as to put the beer in a clear bottle deserves any poor ratings they get when their product is spoiled. Also they lose sales as I certainly will not risk my hard earned cash on another bottle of this stuff.

Amber/orange colour and medium head. Light peaty and malty aroma, bitter notes in the malty smoky bouquet. Fairly long finish.

Nice red color with nice thick head. Nose of burnt carmel and malt. Nice prickle in the mouth, slightly sour, with nut and malt flavors. Medium long finish. Not bad at all.

A little too hoppy for my taste in Scottish ales. A little weak bodied. Not a bad beer but not a great Scottish ale either.

Bottle pours amber with a nice lasting off white head and good lace. The aroma is floral hops, bready malt, and perhaps peat. The flavor is has a sweet malty start, a bread like middle, and a peat like and back of the mouth sour finish with some lingering hops. The palate seems a bit thin. Overall, a fairly decent Scottish Ale.

Clear amber color with a medium tan head. Smoke, peat, hops and bread aroma. Roasty malt, smoke, peat, and hops flavors. Smooth feel, medium body, and a slightly dry finish.
